PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Newark Pipe Manufacturing Engineer is accountable to establish and maintain processes and procedures to safely operate the continuous molded pipe process and pipe automatic wrap machines to meet codes and specifications. This role will be tasked with continuously improve the process by eliminating waste, improving safety, reducing cost, increasing capacity and productivity, and improving the product per customer requirements.

Span of Control: CMP Process, Pipe Autowrap Process
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Living the Safety Stand and adhering to the employee safety responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment.
- Build a culture where safety is a priority.
- Ensure a clear and effective system is followed and used to drive results; reward and celebrate safe behavior and achievements; ensure accountability.
- Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines are in place.
- Lead safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero safety incidents.
Metrics: Safety metrics – RIR, risk reduction, job hazard analysis, safe work plans
Driving Technical, Process and Quality Improvements
- Identify and lead new process improvements.
- Network/partner with peers to operate with zero environmental non-conformities maintaining compliance to applicable company, government, and regulatory policies.
- Administer and ensure strict adherence to business quality program, resulting in consistent and high product quality to customers.
- Actively drive understanding of customer requirements and the relationship to plant process variables to ensure products always meet the customer FFU.
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes/controls.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and meet key milestones, to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the organization and to technically contribute to the development of the process solutions.
- Apply statistical methods/data analytics to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
- Ensures nonconforming products are not shipped to our customers.
- Promote a data driven approach to all quality related problems in plant.
Metrics: CMP and autowrap related process variables and product characteristics on flexcore products, operational efficiencies, CONQ, FPQ.
Executing Strategy across the organization
- Set clear and measurable expectations, in line with plant goals; proactively analyzes and manages all relative performance metrics.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the product.
- Use various tools (Lean/Kaizen, etc.) to drive improved productivity and plant performance.
- Participate in TPM activities across the site.
- Create an environment where all employees are engaged, empowered, and focused on serving our customers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
- A minimum of 1-year technical experience in a manufacturing environment, fiberglass process experience preferred.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- TPM experience preferred.
- Willingness to relocate for future growth opportunities.
- Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.
