Technical Sales Leader

The Technical Sales Leader (TSL) is responsible for driving profitable growth through technical expertise, commercial leadership, and customer engagement across Owens Corning Doors' product portfolio. The role serves as the technical commercial expert supporting Regional Sales Leaders, Area Sales Managers, Key Account Leaders, customers, and channel partners while providing strategic guidance on product applications, specifications, installation, performance, and market opportunities. The Technical Sales Leader combines deep technical product knowledge with strong commercial acumen to identify growth opportunities, solve complex customer challenges, accelerate adoption of new products and solutions, and improve customer outcomes. This role provides technical leadership across assigned geographies and serves as a key liaison between Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
Technical Commercial Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical sales leader for assigned regions and customers.
- Provide expertise on door systems, components, glass, product applications, installation methods, building codes, product performance, and specification requirements.
- Support commercial teams in product positioning, value proposition development, technical presentations, and customer solution development.
- Partner with Regional Sales Leaders, Area Sales Managers, and Key Account Leaders to support strategic account growth initiatives.
- Deliver technical product training for customers, distributors, dealers, builders, architects, and internal sales teams.
- Lead resolution of complex technical customer issues and field performance concerns.
Business Growth & Commercial Development
- Identify market opportunities, emerging trends, competitive threats, and customer needs that support profitable business growth.
- Collaborate with commercial leaders to develop market penetration and growth strategies.
- Influence specification activity and product adoption across the value chain.
- Support customer conversions, new product introductions, and commercialization activities.
- Utilize technical expertise to remove barriers to adoption and support customer purchasing decisions.
- Partner with Product Management and Marketing to identify and prioritize future growth opportunities.
Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, manufacturers, dealers, builders, and industry influencers.
- Conduct customer visits, technical evaluations, plant assessments, and field observations.
- Provide technical consultation that improves customer productivity, product performance, and profitability.
- Support strategic account planning and commercial opportunity development.
- Represent Owens Corning at industry events, trade shows, customer meetings, and technical conferences.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, and Marketing teams.
- Translate customer feedback, technical challenges, and market insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Support commercialization of new products and solutions through coordinated cross-functional execution.
- Influence prioritization of technical projects aligned to customer and business needs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance customer experience and operational effectiveness.
Sales Excellence & Operating Rhythm
- Utilize CRM and commercial management systems to document opportunities, customer engagement activities, and growth initiatives.
- Maintain pipeline visibility for strategic technical opportunities.
- Support territory and account planning efforts through technical market analysis and customer insights.
- Participate in Management Operating System (MOS) rhythms and provide technical business updates.
- Deliver clear recommendations and business cases supporting commercial decision-making.
Leadership & Operating Expectations

- Build capability through coaching, training, and mentoring of commercial team members.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Significant experience in technical sales, product management, engineering, commercial leadership, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience supporting customer growth through technical expertise and commercial partnership.
- Experience within building products, doors, components, fenestration, millwork, construction products, or related industries preferred.
- Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and influence business decisions.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving business results.
- Ability to travel 60-70%.
