The job of the Lead Extruder Process Coordinator is a vital part of the process team; managing daily process control, trials, advanced changeovers and leading training efforts of new extrusion operators.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

Safety

 

Process Leadership

  • Monitor product quality results by reviewing daily lab results to ensure product properties are being met and proper adjustments can be made from an extrusion standpoint
  • Monitor and communicate the status of processing capability and product performance

 

Training

  • Train on reaction plans, standard work, and SOP’s for extrusion issues
  • Create and train on standard work process for current and new equipment
  • Identify and create plan for skill gap closure for existing extruder operators
  • Lead and coordinate training & certification process for extruder operator training

 

PSM

  • Co-lead all PSM and PSM-related audits.
  • Lead PSM certification & re-certifications on applicable procedures

 

Other

  • Active participation and support of TPM
  • Lead creation, implementation, and sustainment of extrusion 5S areas
  • Manage process plans and control in Process/Quality Leader’s absence
  • Support the Lab Coordinator as deemed necessary by the Process & Quality Leader

  • Must have to ability to do basic mathematical calculations
  • Must possess PC operational skills
  • Must maintain a high ethical integrity: Can be trusted to do only the “right thing” for the employees, shareholders, and others. Follows a balanced approach without compromising integrity.
  • Efficient in execution and prioritization of multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of QC test procedures and Proficient program
  • Can teach and lead operating procedures, reaction plans, and controls
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary or required
  • Flexible schedule as needed in response to process upsets and initiatives

 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

The employee should have the following:

  • Preferred 3+ years hands-on experience in extrusion, CNC, or applicable field
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
  • Must provide proof of valid authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be drug and alcohol free

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This position requires:

  • Ability to work flexible hours to cover multiple shifts and departments
  • Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying or rotating shifts
  • Exposure to hot/cold temperature- continuously
  • Exposure to noise- continuously
  • Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds
  • Twisting and Bending – occasionally
  • Sitting- occasionally

  • Hand/Eye Coordination– frequently
