PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

As the Operations Leader for the greenfield startup in Russellville, AR, responsibility will include technical and business leadership in product manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and employee development.  The Operations Leader is accountable to implement an inclusive culture, organizational strategies, standards, practices, leading business changes and the continuous growth and development of the Russellville Plant.

 

They are expected to lead from an outside-in perspective, understand what is necessary for the customer to be successful and manage and oversee production operations through the TPM Operating System - providing vision, strategy, and leadership to achieve and maintain the highest standards of Safety, Environmental Compliance, Engagement, Cost, Productivity, Efficiency, Quality, Talent Development and Customer Service. 

 

In addition, the Operations Leader interfaces across the operations network in the Foam business to provide solutions to product manufacturing challenges, benchmarks for best-in-class standards as well as advances and innovation in manufacturing processes and materials.  This position is the subject matter expert in the plant on all downline process, quality and material areas. The Operations Leader is a member of the Natural Leadership Team (NLT) for the plant.

Span of Control:  This position has responsibility for approximately 40 primary employees in this start up facility.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading safety, environmental security for an injury free and complaint workplace

  • Leads with the OC Safety Brand “Safer Together” and leads with all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone’s responsibility, working safely is condition of employment
  • Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors
  • Ensures all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to technical operations of the production lines ensure the safety of employees in accordance to Owens Corning standards. 
  • Shows passion and caring for our people
  • Actively participates in and follows requirements for Process Safety Management (PSM) and partners with cross functional teams to support, improve and enforce plant safety programs (LTT, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Vehicles, etc.)

Executing business strategy and leading operations to drive towards manufacturing excellence while behaving with a TPM mindset in everything

  • Set clear and measurable performance expectations in line with plant goals.  Communicates strategic direction to employees and how it fits with the day-to-day actions and results being driven. Proactively analyzes and manages all relative operational performance metrics making improvements to efficiencies and cost
  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement efforts through both the personal use and promotion of standardized work to cut cost and improve productivity and quality
  • Effectively communicates goals, objectives and progress, holding people accountable to deliver results
  • Ensures measurement and quality systems are used to drive results and provide consistent product that meets manufacturing specifications and customer expectations
  • Drives improvement by engaging employees, partnering with Technical and Maintenance Leader to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities and executing against them to improve productivity and quality
  • Partner with Training & Development (T&D) Pillar to develop and administer training programs and standard work to ensure repeatability and manufacturing excellence through operations
  • Prepares budgets relative to manpower, production and space forecasting necessary to meet customer demands
  • Partners with the Process Engineer and Maintenance Leader to identify and drive continuous improvement efforts to improve productivity and quality. 
  • Effectively engages and collaborates with all other functional areas of the plant as partners

 

Lead the Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Pillar

  • Collaborate with operational leadership and divisional TPM steering team to develop the master plan and subsequent strategies for the AM Pillar. 
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, engineering and other teams to understand the current performance challenges/losses, while developing sound solution strategies. 
  • Effectively mentor teams and individuals at all levels of the organization around TPM principles and processes.
  • Identify, track and communicate metrics to measure AM Pillar progress.  
  • Lead with a proactive approach; goal is problem prevention, instead of problem solving
  • Elevate the plant wide proficiency and utilization of the right processes and toolsets to solidify TPM principles and processes
  • Develop and deliver training as needed to build TPM knowledge and awareness

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ of people leadership in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of production systems and processes.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Exposure to cross-functional team leadership or participation within the organization
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing a plus
  • A history of hiring, growing and promoting talent within an organization
  • Demonstrated ability of coaching and guiding for results
  • Demonstrated success of engaging others
  • TPM or lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • PSM experience preferred
  • Experience in driving results and improving function, team or area productivity
