PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for training and developing new maintenance employees, participation in the PM pillar, BDA's, and contacting external resources as needed.
This position is part of the Russellville Foam Plant Operations Team and plays a role in improving overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. This opportunity is critical to the performance and continued growth of the Russellville Foam Plant.

Reports to: Maintenance Leader
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the process, process equipment, controls, and support equipment.
- Perform major machine maintenance activities on all equipment either by self or with assistance from co-workers or production personnel.
- Has sound troubleshooting and reasoning techniques to ensure expeditious solutions to problems.
- Perform both routine and non-routine Maintenance tasks on process and support equipment as directed by the Maintenance Leader or Shift Supervisor.
- Has PLC knowledge and understanding to make edits, updates, and corrections within the program as needed/directed
- Communicate work activities and equipment problems/solutions to Maintenance Leader and Shift Coordinator in a timely manner in both verbal and written forms.
- Differentiate between “symptoms” and “problems” so sound corrective action is taken.
- Work with Maintenance Specialists or independently as directed by Maintenance Leader.
- Continue to broaden knowledge via training programs, outside training sources, or self-taught courses.
- Support training and development of new maintenance hires and current maintenance technicians
- Support other maintenance team members on the technical aspect of their jobs.
- Be “thorough” in approach to work tasks - clean up, pick up, write up work activities, sign out stored materials, log in major items, positive corrective action, and other communicative skills.
- Record all work activities, work time, and parts usage in SAP.
- Provide input on downtime workload and scheduling.
- Supports the plant PM Pillar and break down analysis
- Fabricate simple items from sketches or verbal descriptions.
- All other duties as assigned or needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Possess at least 8 years experience in an industrial maintenance environment
- Industrial Electronics Degree (2yr technical electronics schooling)
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in 5+ year’s experience in an industrial maintenance position
- Schooling and certifications in maintenance /electronics related field
- Willingness-to-learn-more attitude through developed work habits, machine instruction booklets, self-taught skills courses, and outside educational programs
- Industrial mechanical experience and knowledge (bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, chain drives, etc.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be efficient with computers and all Microsoft Suite programs.
- Must have proficient experience with SAP computer maintenance management system.
- Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to follow through.
- Above average troubleshooting of mechanical equipment in an industrial environment
- Understanding, experience, and troubleshooting capabilities with industrial electrical
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude in an industrial environment
- Strong Maintenance skills.
- Strong electrical /electronic background which includes knowledge in troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical devices.
- Capable of reading machine and electrical prints, as well as following those prints for purposes of fabrication, troubleshooting, or assembly.
- PLC knowledge and understanding; can make updates/changes as needed
- Possess understanding and experience in machine repair.
- Ability to communicate work activities in both written and oral forms.
- Demonstrate teamwork; maintain communication links with co-workers, production crews, maintenance personnel and supervision.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to complete intermediate mathematical calculations.
- Strong attributes for attention to details.
- Ability to accomplish all of the above without direct supervision.
- Ability to travel as needed. Travel will be heavier during start up as visit other OC plants to learn the business.
