Raw Material Specialist

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Safety & Environmental

  • Follow and enforce all safety rules, regulations, procedures, and trainings
  • Maintains 100% Safety engagement
  • Ensure Environmental Compliance with proper housekeeping of raw material Silos

Raw Material Management & Principle Duties

  • Plant single point of contact for all raw materials located on-site
  • Manages all day-to-day activities of personnel in Raw Material receiving
  • Maintains accurate raw material inventories
    • Execute raw material cycle counts as requested, and at regularly scheduled intervals
    • Investigate and resolve raw material inventory issues
  • Receive (GR) all materials delivered daily, including railcars in inventory and transloaded material
  • Order Railcars in and out and communicate to raw material unloaders for upcoming deliveries
    • Update railcar tracking log
  • Works with a Toledo-based sourcing team to order all necessary raw materials
    • Communicate inventory adjustments to sourcing team after posting
    • Attend and report out in weekly status meeting with sourcing team
  • Monitors inbound deliveries to ensure that all items delivered are received into SAP
  • Communicates directly to operations about inventory levels and delivery delays
  • Clears COGI errors daily to ensure proper product cost allocations
  • Works with the controller to update operational BOMs when needed
  • Manages Raw Material SMOI, returns and dispose of items in a timely manner
  • Attends a daily DMS meeting to communicate raw material usages and issues
  • Support staff in coordinating and resolving all raw materials receiving issues to ensure production continuity and minimize detention/demurrage expense
    • Provide monthly demurrage accrual estimate
  • Work with quality and production when raw material deliveries are damaged or bad product
    • Support appropriate processes to record damaged product in SAP
  • Takes a strategic approach to inventory management
    • Responsible for ensuring Friday inventory levels are sufficient to get production through the weekend
    • Understands that during extended downtime (1 week+) silos need to be at appropriate levels for start up
    • Understands that inventory is managed with a just in time (JIT) philosophy
  • Backup support for plant buyer and shipping supervisor
  • All other requirements as assigned by Plant Controller

Qualifications:

  • Understanding and adherence to SOX requirements/basic accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Knowledge of a WMS (Warehouse Management System), SAP proficiency is highly desirable

  • Minimum: Associates Degree (emphasis in Inventory Management or Logistics a plus)
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum: Manufacturing Experience
  • Preferred: 3+ years’ experience in Warehouse or Operations
