Industrial Maintenance Millwright - Fulltime Hourly Position 

 

Owens Corning, Toronto Plant

 

Best known for its corporate symbol of the Pink Panther and a Fortune 500 company for more than 50 years, Owens Corning produces various building products for residential and commercial markets. We are currently seeking a qualified Journeyman Millwright for our Toronto fiberglass insulation plant, an award-winning Owens Corning Plant.

The Industrial Maintenance Millwright will report to a Maintenance Supervisor and will initially be a day shift position.  Due to changing resources and business demands the position may require a transition to a continental shift work schedule which includes weekends.

Position Summary

 

As a key member of our Maintenance Team, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives and activities to upskill operators and reduce losses
  • Carrying out 5S activities on a daily basis
  • Participating in DMS (Daily Management System) huddles
  • Performing Job Hazard Analysis prior to maintenance activities
  • Hoisting and Rigging
  • Performing a range of maintenance functions from simple repairs to complex equipment rebuilds
  • Mentoring Junior Technicians as they perform maintenance activities
  • Training Operators on Cleaning, Inspection, Lubrication and Tightening (CILT) activities on equipment, as well as equipment and components principle of operations
  • Collaborate with Operators to identify and eliminate equipment and safety issues
  • Performing Break Down Analysis and Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Preparing precision maintenance procedures for PMs and PdMs
  • Carrying out continuous improvements initiatives of equipment and areas
  • Taking initiatives to identify, maintain, and repair equipment issues
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Providing maintenance support to a continuous process manufacturing plant
  • Complete work competently and in a timely manner to meet production commitments
  • Be available to come in on off-shifts to provide maintenance support
     
    Your work history should include experience with most of the following types of equipment:

 

  • Pneumatics
  • Conveying systems
  • Air compressors
  • Natural gas systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Automated packaging systems
  • Dust collectors
  • High volume fans
  • Pumps
  • Piping
  • Rigging
  • Power transmission (motors, gearboxes, etc..)
  • Welding/fabricating
  • Industrial controls.
     
    What you offer:
     
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright required
  • Strong working knowledge on safe work practices (such as lock-tag-try, fall protection, and hazard assessments)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision independently or in a group
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP, continuous flow operations and fiberglass manufacturing is an asset
  • Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes wearing personal protective equipment, such as a hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, and flame retardant clothing and safety shoes.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, flexible with starting earlier at times (depending on maintenance activities) or responding to off hour calls,
  • Passion for teamwork, ongoing learning, continuous improvement and maintaining a respectful environment
  • Previous experience with TPM and 5S will be an asset
