Starting as a Material Handler, you will be responsible for:
- Works with employees in their area of responsibility to ensure all work is performed safely.
- Performs Pre-job Hazard Assessments.
- Ensures that daily housekeeping in the area is completed.
- Leads the work of the area to meet performance targets as defined by the Operations Leader.
- Trained to run the T01 baggers and T02 baggers (but not all M/H’s work at T02, just a group of 4-6 of them)
- Trained to run the Nodulator and Baler.
- Complete job changes, complete clean up as needed.
- Drive plant vehicles
- Complete Roll-off when bringing up T01
- Use in the Batch and melting area during upset conditions
- These are the basic areas plus whatever relief position they hold.
- Install and remove hood covers as required
- Participate in Autonomous Maintenance activities including identifying abnormalities, performing technical inspections and following cleaning procedures according to TPM standards
- Participate in problem solving initiatives to define corrective actions
- Lead and participate on the Daily Management System of your area of responsibility and apply 5S methodology according to OC standards
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following abilities:
- Understand the plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Must have the ability to do basic mathematical calculations
- Must be able to conduct simple mechanical tests
- Troubleshooting equipment and conceptualize equipment
- Know and understand how to read SAP.
- Must be able to secure and maintain fork lift drivers license
- Must be able to work independently
- Must work well in team environment
- Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
- Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to:
Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument, to include touch screens.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the Canada
- 18 Years and above.
- Ability to work Continental Shifts.
- Previous Manufacturing Experience.
- Lifting/Carrying/moving up to 40 pounds.
- Strong Verbal and written communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in a Team environment.
