PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Maintenance Lead ensures optimal, safe and environmentally compliant performance of production equipment through execution of OC’s Reliability Work Process (RWP) which consists of PM’s, planned & scheduled work, effective backlog management, execution of capital projects and use of the MOC process. This must be done in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant manner. This position is responsible for the growth and development of the maintenance team and ensures that they are trained in maintenance procedures and best practices. Additionally, the maintenance lead is responsible for monitoring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), enforcing lockout/tagout procedures during equipment servicing, and conducting routine safety inspections to proactively address risks. By fostering a culture of safety and accountability, the Maintenance Lead helps minimize accidents and ensures compliance with OSHA and local safety standards
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment.
- Take personal ownership to work safely each and everyday and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
- Notify Plant Leader immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem.
- Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, etc.
- Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
- Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel
- Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks (adheres to CILT standard, 5S, leads the PM pillar)
- Continues to use TPM methodology to gain a better understanding of the equipment
- Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas
- Utilizes Focus Improvement tools to problem solve.
- Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses.
- Understands the needs of the customer and takes actions to address those needs.

- Follows up on work orders. Communicate equipment problems requiring work orders and submits work orders.
- Complies with all plant rules.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

- Supervise and schedule maintenance staff to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, asphalt mixers, and other related machinery.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies; conduct safety meetings and training as needed.
- Order and manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies required for maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with plant management to develop maintenance budgets and strategies for continuous improvement.
- Allocate resource requirements and investments required to achieve zero injuries, including systems, focused programs, and leadership
- Ensure a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; rewards and celebrates safe behavior and achievements; ensures accountability
- Perform job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adhere to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
- Ensure that the OC permitting and LTT policies are followed with every maintenance job for either contractor or OC personnel.
- Responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of plant machinery with maximum uptime through RWP.
- Keep the Operations Leader and OMC apprised of equipment conditions so that situations of major significance can be planned for to avoid major production down time.
- Make timely and appropriate decisions when an emergency or breakdown occurs so that production interruption is minimized.
- Ensure there is supervision/oversight of all maintenance work (OC or contractor) at the plant.
- Ensure that spare parts information and inventories are maintained at appropriate levels.
- Prepare budgets relative to capital expenditures, manpower, production, and space forecasting necessary to meet customer demands. Help ensure maintenance expenses stay within budget to contribute to bottom-line results.
- Maintain the company’s assets (buildings, infrastructure, etc.) in a cost effective manner
- Implement effective preventative and predictive maintenance programs to ensure maximum equipment availability for operation.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained
- Monitor and control contractor activities (safe work, cost control, and housekeeping activities) and energy spending
- Identify and participate proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas.
- Ensure standard operating procedures and processes are in place.
- Assist with the on-boarding of new employees.
- Ensure that maintenance training to relevant stakeholders is provided.
- Instruct craftsmen in proper mechanical installation and repair techniques, as appropriate.
- Work with Plant Leader to deliver semi-annual performance evaluations that are focused on growth and development and individual goals.

- Maintain documentation, track, counsel and execute coaching and advise on corrective action when performance issues occur
- Monitor labor activities and leverage labor relations resources as appropriate to ensure compliance with all collective bargaining agreements, company policies and/or governmental regulations
- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by the Plant Leader.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems relevant to asphalt plant equipment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Proficient in using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced technical certification/degree is a plus
- Electrical license is a plus
- Experience in dealing with both union and non-union operations
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the U.S.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Comfortable with working from heights
- Ability to stand for 12 hours straight
- Able to climb and descend stairs for up to 12 hours continuously
- Lift and push and pull 40lbs repetitively
- Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for 12 hours
- Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
- Exposure to temperature extremes
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
