PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Doors:   The Doors business is a $2.4B global enterprise that manufactures and sells doors and door components for residential and commercial applications. 

 

The Doors Strategy Leader is a recognized strategic thought leader delivering two primary aspects of business growth 1) the business strategy and 2) M&A support to the business. The role will support the objectives of the team by successfully leading, creating, and managing impactful strategy projects related to corporate and business strategy, strategic planning, and Doors inorganic pipeline.  This position will work closely with the Doors Leadership team to ensure alignment and effective positioning of our Doors business and M&A strategy. Working collaboratively across the entire Doors enterprise, this role ensures that the business is driving growth in a way that is aligned with the needs of the customer and business expectations.  The role is a key member of the Doors Strategic Marketing Leadership Team and a strategic advisor to the Doors Leadership Team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy Development and Execution

  • Market Insight Integration: Leverage comprehensive market and segment knowledge from both internal and external sources to provide a unified view of the Doors product platform.
  • Competitive Analysis: Collaborate with product and commercial teams to ensure our products deliver unmatched value and performance, staying ahead of current and future competitors.
  • Strategic Action Planning: Interpret market data to develop actionable strategies that shape our business and product direction.
  • Market Positioning: Strategically position our current and future value propositions to maximize value, ensuring clear differentiation from competitors and strong customer alignment.
  • Clear Communication: Communicate business strategy and performance to external constituents (customers, industry) effectively and engages them in the vision of the business.  
  • Strategy and M&A Project Management: Lead, create and manage impactful strategy projects related to corporate and business strategy.

 

Strategic Growth

  • Collaborative Analysis: Partner with product managers, digital team members, and other key stakeholders to identify and prioritize critical areas for growth projects.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships within the organization and cross-functionally, ensuring alignment with Doors and enterprise objectives.
  • Strategic Execution: Understand the strategic direction of the company's businesses and execute functional strategies to support and enhance business results, staying informed about project work and its business implications.
  • Enterprise Strategy Support: Contribute to key enterprise strategy projects as needed, providing valuable support.
  • Data-Driven Recommendations: Gather, analyze, and interpret data to prepare strategic recommendations, forecast future requirements, and conduct economic research to inform investment decisions.
  • Shareholder Perspective: Integrate an external shareholder perspective into decision-making, using comparative industry data to benchmark internal performance and develop analytical industry demand models based on key demand drivers.
  • Customer and Market Knowledge: Acquire deep knowledge of our customers and markets, understanding their met and unmet needs.
  • Industry Expertise: Develop and maintain strong industry and competitive knowledge, helping shape business strategies.

 

Value Proposition Development

  • Value Creation Methodology: Develop credible value propositions for Owens Corning to win in these segments and determine the best path forward (build, buy, partner, etc.), driving alignment and support for recommendations.
  • Targeted Value Propositions: Develop and test value propositions aimed at the doors market, distribution channels, and installers. Collaborate with the team to establish hypotheses and execute plans that drive growth through rapid test-and-learn procedures.
  • Market and Ecosystem Understanding: Gain a deep understanding of relevant markets, ecosystems, and adjacent segments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Data-Driven Adjacent Assessment: Lead a commercially focused assessment of adjacent opportunities by integrating internal and external knowledge.
  • Customer-Centric Market Development: Ensure the voice of the customer is integral to market development and decision-making processes.
  • Valuation Analysis Support: Support cross-functional teams in performing rapid valuation analysis, developing base case and synergy assessments to inform strategic planning.

 

Long-Range Planning, Project Prioritization and Execution

  • Long-Range Plan (LRP) Execution: Drive and support the execution of the Doors Long-Range Plan (LRP), including the preparation of Board Decks, Investor Day presentations, and internal strategy socialization.
  • Strategic Financial and Operational Insight: Understand the financial and operational implications of the products and how their strategy impacts the broader product leadership strategy.
  • Platform Activity Prioritization: Prioritize activities within the platform to support the delivery of overall business objectives.
  • Analytical Support for Strategic Projects: Provide analytical and insightful support to various strategic projects, working closely with business units and cross-functional leadership.
  • Collaborative Story Development: Work collaboratively with the DLT and key partners to source and develop the internal narrative for the Doors LRP.
  • Enterprise LRP Support: Contribute to the enterprise LRP process by integrating key market adjacencies, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • An undergraduate degree is required (technical degree preferred); an MBA or equivalent working experience is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of Sales or Marketing experience in B2B environment
  • Experience in a strategy capacity

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proven ability formulating global marketing strategies
  • Experience working in matrix organizations with multiple distribution channels and influencers with accountability across geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and marketing programs and pipelines that deliver quantifiable financial returns
  • Experience in shaping business strategy and leading strategic planning with best-in-class analytical tools
  • Experience in translating marketing trends into marketing product strategies based upon trend analyses and feedback
  • Experience with cross-functional teams.  Aptitude to build strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with partner leadership
