About the position

Foamglas, manufactures and provide insulation material that help consumers and industries reducing their energy consumption. Here at Owens Corning we are fully engaged in reducing our CO2 emission by a series of ongoing investments.


We are looking for a Sales Leader Industry who will be partnering closely with leadership around the globe to define and provide guidelines for our Foamglas strategy. This, in order to deliver and sustain investment grade margins. You also work in close collaboration and co-steers the European Technical Engineering team and shares responsibility for a perfect commercial/technical solution offered to customers.


This is a pivotal role in the success of our business, balancing engaged commercial discussion (you have authority to challenge our choices!) with more analytical work to identify and remediate outliers. You are responsible for the promotion and selling of the complete Foamglas Industry portfolio in line with Specialty Business Strategy. This will involve the identification of appropriate sales opportunities, Specifications and Commercial realization of key projects within our segmentation strategy in European and Middle East African Countries. You will be leading, and coaching  a team of 15 sales professionals (Inside Sales/Customer Service and Sales Engineers / Country Leads) spread across Europe, who wil provide you support in the decisions you make.


What does success look like?


  • You organize and lead the daily commercial operations of a team of Inside Sales and Sales Engineers / Country Leads towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company annual budget, Long Range Plan and our vision and values. 
  • You secure the organization’s revenue and profit growth by identifying, setting and implementing strategic opportunities and projects (including geographic expansion, new applications, market segments and distribution channels, new players in the value chain).
  • You ensure that the necessary conditions and resources are deployed in order to define and implement a sales and marketing strategy in accordance with the business objectives for short, medium and long terms in your region.  
  • You work in close collaboration and co-steers the European Technical Engineering team and shares responsibility for a perfect commercial/technical solution offered to customers.


  • You understand the customers’ needs (all stakeholders in the value chain e.g. EPCs, contractors, distributors and owners(oil & gas, petrochemical, tank storage, etc.)) to create and provide solutions that bring value to them and to capture fair value for Owens Corning.
  • You achieve a strong coordination and interaction with different stakeholders internally (Operations, MarCom, Finance, …)





Skills and capabilities necessary to succeed

  • Applied business and financial acumen skills including basic business management tools and metrics.

  • Civil engineer in engineering or construction as ideal profile, engineering background is a must
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of another European language is recommended (E.g. Dutch, French, German)
  • Ability to grow in the role and to evolve towards a more senior position. A larger background is a plus.




Business requirements

  • 10+ years experience in managing and coaching multicultural, locally based sales teams, understanding cultural and market related differences.
  • Experience and understanding of the insulation business or oil & gas industry is required
  • Proven track record of selling the value of an organization to the customer
  • Experience in long cycle specification driven businesses
  • Experience in project based sales and planning, deadlines
