Job Summary
The Accountant II independently supports the Doors business across a broad range of Operations Accounting activities, applying practical accounting knowledge gained through advanced education and professional experience. The role works closely with Accounting Leaders and Business Segments to support the effective execution of Operations Accounting’s goals and objectives through accurate financial reporting, a strong control environment, and continuous improvement. The Accountant II resolves difficult (but not complex) accounting and reporting issues and influences others through sound explanation of accounting principles, policies, and data-driven insights. In all aspects of the role, the Accountant II demonstrates clear and effective communication, teamwork, and commitment to the success of Owens Corning.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Live the Owens Corning safety standard and fully adhere to all safety responsibilities.
- Identify and report safety concerns when observed.
- Ensure compliance with Owens Corning safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate accountability for safety metrics through proactive identification of hazards and concerns.
Core Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Independently execute accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Perform ongoing accounting responsibilities for the Doors segment.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and Owens Corning policy.
- Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and ledger entries are accurate.
- Reconcile ledger accounts to the general ledger and ensure reconciliations are supported by valid items.
- Analyze financial statements and explain variances.
- Work directly with accounting leaders to resolve accounting issues and concerns within the identified period.
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial information.
Process Excellence & Controls
- Own, maintain, and continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Identify control gaps and implement sustainable improvements.
- Facilitate and complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles in accordance with published calendars.
- Provide timely and accurate journal entries for assigned areas.
- Complete all account reconciliations timely and in accordance with Owens Corning policy.
- Perform standard process and balance analysis and clearly articulate events driving balance changes.
- Develop, document, and maintain sound, consistent, and sustainable processes and controls.
- Ensure integrity, quality, and confidentiality of financial and non-financial data.
- Contribute to department and organizational projects as assigned.
Analytical Insight & Decision Support
- Review financial and operational information to identify inconsistencies, risks, and opportunities.
- Interpret information by integrating data from multiple sources to identify trends and cause-effect relationships.
- Develop relevant options for addressing problems and improving outcomes.
- Support management decision-making with accurate, timely, and insightful analysis.
- Build an in-depth understanding of the business to provide meaningful insight into operating performance.
Business Partnership & Collaboration
- Develop strong working relationships across Operations Accounting, FP&A, Business Segments, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong listening skills and consult on accounting and business matters.

Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
