JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Accounting Leader for our Insulation business leads a broad range of accounting activities for the Americas Accounting team, a highly effective and motivated group that delivers the following results to the organization:

 

  • Executing an effective financial close cycle for our business functions and monitoring internal controls
  • Internal consulting through researching and guiding stakeholders on technical accounting issues
  • Continuously improving accounting processes to gain efficiency and effectiveness
  • Prepare, analyze and summarize accounting data for complex financial projects and/or subjects
  • Supporting senior management in GFOR and business segments, treasury, tax, and external auditors
  • Preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and management/consolidated financial statements

 

The position reports to:  Americas Accounting Director

 

Span of control: Leads multiple direct reports

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Execute an effective financial closing cycle and drive internal control activities for the business finance function

  • Develops strong working relationships with business finance, specifically Insulation, centers of excellence and business finance leaders
  • Proactively assists business finance to complete the monthly closing cycle and resolves closing issues timely within the accounting team
  • Consults with external reporting group on significant technical accounting matters.  Provides recommendations and alternative views of the accounting treatment and accounting-related issues
  • Ensures that account reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in accordance with OC policy and on a timely basis.  Executes secondary review controls over manual journal entries posted in Insulation results.  Optimizes distribution of these activities for maximum efficiency
  • Drives the global Insulation and Consolidated balance sheet review process and ensures that presenters are prepared to deliver meaningful insight to GFOR NLT and Insulation Finance leaders.  Develops consistent messaging between balance sheet review meetings and end-of-quarter consolidated analytics
  • Lead the focus on continuous improvement by empowering the team to identify and implement process enhancements for the financial close process or another other standard process
  • Drives root cause analysis through the continuous learning opportunity (“CLO”) process

 

Partnership and ownership of the accounting for the Insulation business

  • Oversees team member accounting activities for business accounting areas
  • Represents the accounting function as a member of the Insulation Finance leadership team
  • Lead the rep letter process and present results to the CFO, Insulation Segment President, Insulation Finance VP and Corporate Controller VP
  • Deliver insightful accounting research, analysis and commentary on key accounting items
  • Demonstrate keen listening skills and consults on complex business issues
  • Continuously builds an intimate knowledge of the business to provide insightful analysis of operation performance and financial statements
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting structure

 

Lead and develop talent

  • Designs the organization to create “complete” jobs with strong accountability, high visibility and development opportunities
  • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management and talent evaluation
  • Invests in the growth and development of all team members by counseling them on written development plans and internal networking strategies
  • Increase the talent and performance of the team members through continuous learning
  • Creates succession plans for the team by being involved in the development plans for identified successors both within the team and broadly throughout the organization
  • Inspires teamwork across accounting functions and other business groups to maximize the performance of the accounting function

 

Further develop working relationships with other departments

  • Teams with various OC departments to achieve common goals
  • Partners with M&A accounting leader, Finance COE and regional accounting COE’s on the integration of accounting activities of newly-acquired companies

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Experience:

  • Seven to ten years of combined experience, preferably in various accounting and finance roles with multinational companies and “Big 4” public accounting firms
  • Industry background is open with a preference for manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred)
  • CPA preferred

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Broad financial and business acumen, including, global accounting processes and internal controls
  • Strong technical accounting skills and business acumen
  • Strong business partner with ability to build relationships
