As a Business Development Leader, you will play a critical role in identifying, developing, and commercializing new growth opportunities for Owens Corning’s Nonwovens business. This role is responsible for accelerating profitable growth by evaluating emerging markets, building strategic relationships, developing business strategies, and translating market insights into actionable growth initiatives.

 

You will partner closely with Strategic Marketing, Commercial, Product Management, R&D, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to identify customer needs, evaluate market opportunities, and deliver innovative solutions that create value for both customers and Owens Corning. Success in this role requires strong business development skills, strategic thinking, customer engagement, and the ability to influence across a matrixed organization.

 

POSITION LOCATION: Toledo World Headquarters, or Granville, OH. Hybrid schedule 4 days a week in office.

 


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies that support long-term growth objectives for the Nonwovens business.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities, applications, and customer segments that align with business growth goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers, industry influencers, consultants, suppliers, and key market stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, sustainability developments, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Strategic Marketing and Commercial teams to develop integrated growth strategies and market expansion plans.
  • Translate market opportunities into actionable growth initiatives, business cases, and commercialization plans.
  • Lead customer engagement efforts to identify unmet needs and develop solutions that create differentiated value.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of growth opportunities, managing initiatives from opportunity identification through commercialization.
  • Support the development of customer value propositions, commercial frameworks, and strategic partnerships that drive profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and Operations teams to evaluate new product, application, and business development opportunities.
  • Lead strategic projects that support growth initiatives, including product qualification efforts, testing programs, design services, and commercial partnerships.
  • Support evaluation and execution of strategic opportunities such as licensing agreements, partnerships, acquisitions, and other growth initiatives.
  • Develop and present business recommendations, investment proposals, and growth plans to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and other functions to ensure projects are executed in accordance with company policies, governance requirements, and strategic objectives.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders while ensuring alignment across the organization.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork across functions to support successful project execution and commercial outcomes.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, product management, commercialization, or a related commercial role.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and developing new business opportunities that drive revenue growth.
  • Strong business acumen with experience evaluating market opportunities, customer needs, and investment decisions.
  • Experience developing business cases, growth strategies, and customer value propositions.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving alignment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess opportunities and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Excellent presentation and executive communication skills.

 


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience within Nonwovens, composites, advanced materials, industrial manufacturing, construction products, or related industries.
  • Strong technical understanding of Nonwovens products, applications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing customer-centric solutions based on needs assessments and market insights.
  • Experience leading cross-functional or global teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, partnerships, licensing agreements, or other strategic growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience influencing customer and stakeholder decisions.
  • Experience creating and executing market development, commercialization, or strategic growth plans.
