Purpose of the Job

The Accountant I (Corporate Accounting Analyst) plays a key role in supporting the company’s corporate accounting function by ensuring accurate financial reporting, a timely and effective financial close process, and compliance with accounting and internal control requirements. This role serves as the accounting expert for payroll and plays a key role in identifying and implementing process improvements surrounding payroll. The role also acts as a business partner with various stakeholders, prepares and reviews journal entries, performs account reconciliations, analyzes financial results and variances, and helps maintain a strong control environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for Corporate accounting areas.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the general ledger and financial reporting structure.

Payroll Analysis & Support

  • Perform financial analyses and investigate account variances.
  • Support and respond to ad hoc inquiries from business partners and stakeholders.
  • Key point of contact for payroll accounting, and establishing sustainable payroll processes.
  • Prepare and post payroll for Doors business on monthly basis.
  • Monitor payroll accounts to ensure timely clearing and maintenance of accounts.

 

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Support and maintain a strong internal control environment.
  • Assist with SOX compliance and monitor key financial controls.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate significant risks or control issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and accounting standards.

Process Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Continuously improve accounting processes for greater efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy.
  • Identify root causes of issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Promote best practices and leverage AI tools to enhance processes.
  • Demonstrate independent thinking and initiative in solving complex accounting challenges.

Stakeholder Partnership & Accounting Guidance

  • Partner with HR, Payroll IT, Business Accounting, and other corporate functions.
  • Coordinate with third-party payroll vendors such as Strada and Kronos to gather and validate data.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and internal control teams.

Job Requirements

 

Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong financial, accounting, and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting and efficient and sustainable payroll processes.
  • Experience using SAP, BPC, Excel, and other reporting tools (preferred).

  • Strong communication skills – both interpersonal and written.
  • Ability to work and act independently.
  • Well organized and ability to adapt and prioritize competing priorities.
