PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Roofing Commercial Finance Director provides strategic financial leadership for the Roofing businesses globally, enabling profitable growth, commercial excellence, and strong operational performance. This role partners closely with commercial, pricing, marketing, supply chain, and strategy teams to drive insights, influence decisions, and support top-line and margin outcomes.
The Roofing Commercial Finance Director is a key partner in shaping OC’s commercial financial strategy, driving growth across Shingles, Components, and Lumber, and enhancing the financial discipline and strategic rigor of the Roofing business.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Commercial Finance Leadership
- Serve as the strategic finance partner to Shingles, Components, and Lumber general managers and commercial leaders, supporting portfolio strategy, pricing actions, competitive analysis, and market dynamics
- Lead forecasting, performance outlooks, and scenario modeling that support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
- Provide ongoing financial insights to influence commercial planning, customer strategies, and long‑term growth initiatives
- Be the point of contact for general manager, understanding full P&L of the business beyond commercial, closely connected with manufacturing and FP&A
- Leads actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs
- Drive process improvement, automation, and leverage technology to deliver efficiencies and insights
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis
- Oversee full financial cycles (monthly results, forecasts, AOP/LRP), ensuring visibility to trends, risks, and opportunities across Shingles, Components, and Lumber
- Develop robust analytics and actionable insights to support top‑line growth and margin expansion
- Ensure alignment with enterprise FP&A and Roofing Finance leadership expectations
- Direct the development of the segment’s long-term strategic and annual operations plans, and ensure appropriate actions are in place for effective execution
- Champion the adoption of technology, automation, and innovative tools to improve insight, efficiency, and effectiveness across financial processes
Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Live the safety stand, adhering to safety responsibilities
- Work across organizational boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, division or corporate objectives
- Partner with product marketing and commercial leadership on new product launches, leading upfront business case development, launch analytics, pricing and profitability assessment, and post‑launch performance tracking to ensure disciplined investment decisions and successful market execution
- Shares best practices across businesses divisions, i.e., process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes
- Aligns teams and resources in order to solve problems and drive results
- Collaborate closely with leaders across commercial, pricing, marketing, supply chain, and S&OP to assess market conditions and inform strategic priorities
- Engage with product, marketing, and customer teams to understand business drivers and support commercial investments
Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, develop, and coach a finance team supporting Shingles, Components, and Lumber
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong business partnership
- Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation systems and utilization of people
- Acts as a resource to the non-financial leaders of the business providing education and training on the key principles of Finance
- Grows and develops direct reports and/or other members of the finance team and other identified talent in their organization
- Ensures succession plans are executed for focus roles
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure a rigorous control environment across commercial finance activities, including accurate reporting, adherence to policies, and responsible stewardship of financial assets
- Ensures that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including: data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies and governmental regulations (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum ten years of progressive finance experience with strong exposure to commercial or business partner roles
- Demonstrated experience driving financial insights to influence commercial performance
- Strong analytical, modeling, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team
- Ability to function expertly in a highly matrixed structure across functional, business, geographic and cultural boundaries
EXPERIENCE:
- Executive communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strong leadership experience to organizations within a manufacturing operation(s)—leading operations planning, savings, forecasting and investment analysis
- Operating in a range of economic conditions, i.e. expansion, contraction, stable economic conditions—forecasting, scenario planning, risk analysis and contingency development
- Developing business cases and enrolling leaders at all levels in taking appropriate action
- International experience: Global exposure and experience working with international teams
- Negotiating, developing and evaluating customer and supplier contracts
- Partnering to deliver on business strategy and growth agenda
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong financial and analytical acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles—understands P&L and balance sheet dynamics
- Demonstrated ability to teach and communicate in simple, impacting terms
- Demonstrated ability to manage and control costs—effectively develops business cases and enroll leaders at all levels in taking appropriate action
- Demonstrated ability to develop an intimate knowledge of customers, competition, and the market and uses this knowledge to drive customer and product profitability decisions
