PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Lumber Supply Chain Leader is accountable to lead and grow the end-to-end Lumber supply chain function in an upstart environment. The scope will include the capacity planning, production scheduling, inventory management, customer order management, and transportation scheduling functions. This leader is charged with building a high-performance team while balancing service levels and costs. The Supply Chain Leader will be a dynamic and creative leader in the business and partner closely with the Commercial and Operations teams to deliver results.

 

Reports to: Lumber Finance Leader

 

Span of Control:  Dotted Line Reports (Ocala Warehouse Lead & Ocala Planner) Strong relationship with the customer service team

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Knowing the business, our customers, and the industry 

  • Develop relationships with key partners inside and outside the organization
  • Have an intimate knowledge of our customers, products, and operations, in order to provide differentiated value to our customers while supporting the overall goals of the business
  • Develop relationships with our customers and understands what it takes to ensure their success; apply customer insights to position the organization as our customers’ supplier of choice.
  • Know what best-in-class service organizations do and obtain outside-in market insights to understand and then efficiently execute to make Owens Corning the “easiest to do business with”
  • The Supply Chain leader will be a valued partner for strategic growth initiatives in the business such as new go-to-market strategies, network optimization studies, and capacity expansions.

 

Directing Operations

  • Leads the execution of the supply chain – material planning, scheduling, order entry and transportation operations – to meet customers’ service requirements consistent with service guidelines and customer expectations
  • Translates organizational strategy into day-to-day priorities and action for the team
  • Executes the business Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP) and other critical divisional supply-chain processes as required by the business, including: consignment customer management, outside warehouse oversight, and 3PL assessment
  • Works collaboratively on network decisions to balance supply and demand, ensuring material availability and fulfilment execution to meet service requirements
  • Drives rigorous data analytics to identify root causes and corrective actions for service failures and near misses.  
  • Collaborate with the plant to ensure execution of production schedules and track attainment
  • Partner with sourcing and inbound logistics to assure consistent, reliable raw material supply to the plant.
  • Directs the Logistics and Warehouse teams to optimize transportation, planning, packaging, load cost optimization, and delivery accuracy to the customer site.
  • Define and measure key KPI’s for Service (On Time Delivery, Order Fulfillment Accuracy), Cash (Inventory DOH, IQM), and Costs (OB Freight, Warehouse).
  • Champion an operating rhythm, ensuring actions are taken to optimize service, cost, and cash performance

  • Execute focused supply chain strategies such as scenario planning for surge demand and customer inventory builds.

  JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or related field, required
  • APICS Certification or equivalent Supply Chain Professional Certification is desired
  • 7-10 years leading a supply chain functional organization such as Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, Operations, or Sourcing

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Multi-functional experience in areas outside of the Supply Chain is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of the appropriate levers and actions to take to achieve service and productivity objectives
  • Planning and managing successful projects
  • Attracting, developing, and retaining high performing talent
