PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The America’s Trade & Logistics Expert ensures the flawless operational execution of all processes that support the international trade activities, specifically, international logistics and trade compliance. The incumbent has responsibility for cross regional shipments (import and export) for the Americas Region and owns the relationships with our carriers for the purpose of carrier accountability and building desired capacity. This person works with customer service and cross regional counterparts to improve our international shipping processes, reduce costs, increase our delivery to request performance, and mitigate risk of disruptions. The expert is the primary contact in the cross regional shipping processes, works directly with freight forwarders and brokers and addresses issues regarding international shipments while providing global knowledge support of compliance and import/export knowledge.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Import and Export Activities for the America’s
- Oversees the coordination of the international logistics across the order fulfillment cycle to meet the Customers' Requested Delivery Dates
- Has a thorough understanding of the shipping process for our CSB plants and acts as the operational liaison between OC's plants, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and ocean carriers
- Evaluates the needs and processes of our internal and external customers regarding service expectation, use of product and receiving procedures
- Ensuring visibility to and understanding of performance metrics, key messages and daily priorities including cost, service, freight payment and import/export requirements
- Own supplier management of freight forwarders and customs brokers (i.e. updating supplier scorecards, participating in quarterly business reviews)
- Understands the transportation market and challenges for CSB shipping points
- Develops relationships with key partners inside and outside of the organization
Ensure International Trade Compliance
- Works with other internal and external business functions to ensure trade compliance of the international trade activities
- Participate in trade compliance self-assessments/controls testing and implement mitigating actions
- Enhance trade compliance knowledge through engagement in training, seminars, webinars, industry groups, research and knowledge sharing with trade compliance teammates
- Ensure import entries have accurate classifications, country of origins, valuation and terms of sale
Supply Chain Excellence:
- Monitors and responds to customer / planner forecasts. Anticipates and plans for changes in logistical demands and processes while coordinating operational efforts to adapt and execute
- Works closely with supply chain partners in multiple regions
- Continuously works to improve total costs and service without jeopardizing security while maintaining the goals of strategic supply chain planning
- Participates in business initiatives, projects, results reporting, and Kaizen events as needed
Develop Talent and strengthen team:
- Work with indirect reports on developing skill sets and business knowledge in order to take on greater levels of responsibility
- Provide support and flexibility to the customer service and logistics teams
- Be engaged in own personal development
Transactional Excellence:
- Understands the intercompany 3rd party process as well as many different SAP systems
- Continuously improves sourcing (carrier resources) with the objective of minimizing transaction cost and improving perfect order metrics
- Ensures SOX compliance for all items related to these processes
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree required or 5 years equivalent experience in Transportation or Trade Compliance.
EXPERIENCE:
- Customer service, logistics or transportation and/or sourcing experience strongly preferred
- Experience in managing cross border shipments preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- SAP system knowledge required-order entry, sourcing PO creation and info records
- Has an in-depth knowledge of customs regulations/procedures in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
- Understands global trade, regional government regulations, and Owens Corning internal controls
- Communicates effectively to employees in different levels and functions of the organization
