DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant works directly with the Accounting Leader and business partners to support the effective execution of a broad range of accounting activities and goals. The role will execute an effective financial close cycle, research technical accounting topics, analyze data, execute controls, and assist and/or lead projects to continue integrating the Doors business, this may include deployment related work, policy implementation, process improvements, and technical accounting.

 

The Senior Accountant must demonstrate clear and effective communication, teamwork, and ability to adapt. The Senior Accountant must also demonstrate high ethical standards and a drive for quality work product.

 

Reports to: Doors Accounting Leader

 

Span of control:  People Leader

 

Expected Travel: 15 – 25 percent

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and Develop Talent

  • Create and foster a safe environment that empowers the team and promotes development.
  • Set clear expectations and maintains accountability for self and team.
  • Sets meaningful goals that connect to business and functional strategies.
  • Invests in the growth and development of direct reports and other identified talent in their organization.

 

Lead and Support Accounting Operational Activities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and year end close processes. Delivering timely and accurate financial statements for the business segment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of accounting and ability to perform technical research.
  • Review and understand financial statements, identifying and partnering with the Doors Accounting Leader to rectify inconsistencies when uncovered.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and OC policy.
  • Prepare the business Balance Sheet Reviews.
  • Ensure all controls are appropriately executed and documented.

  • Lead and/or support department or functional projects as assigned.
  • Identify, and develop sound, consistent, and sustainable processes improvement opportunities.
  • Creates relevant options for addressing problems/opportunities and achieving desired outcomes.
  • Interprets information through integrating data from a variety of sources, detects trends, associations, and cause-effect relationships.
  • Assists in decision making by providing good information, allowing to make the most appropriate decisions, and ensuring buy-in.

  • Continuously builds an intimate knowledge of our businesses to provide insightful analysis of operating performance and financial statements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or Masters in Accounting preferred)
  • 5-7 years minimum of related experience

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with a global company
  • Experience utilizing US GAAP and Accounting Policy
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing process improvements
  • SAP experience (or demonstrated ability to learn new systems)
