Senior Tax Planning Leader

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Senior Leader, Tax Planning is responsible for management of various tax matters, including U.S. international tax, foreign tax, tax treaty analysis, transfer pricing, domestic and international tax planning and controversy, and financial reporting on an as needed basis. The Senior Leader, Tax Planning will develop and implement tax planning initiatives or audit defense strategies to manage tax exposure for the company, improve cash positions, maintain accurate reporting, advise business units, and support M&A activity.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowing our Businesses and their Strategies
- Build relationships within the organization, cross-functionally, and with key stakeholders; ensure effective contact to remain aligned with functional objectives
- Understand the strategic direction of the company’s businesses and execute functional strategies to support and enhance business results; be a proactive partner who can identify and execute projects to further business objectives
- Constant drive for best-in-class Tax organizations and obtain outside-in market insights to understand and then apply to positively impact Owens Corning
Developing and Executing a Strategy
- Identify, analyze, and respond to complex U.S. international and foreign tax issues
- Develop and implement initiatives to reduce taxes of all types by working closely with local teams and tax advisors
- Leads US domestic or international tax controversy efforts as needed
- Draft and review technical and non-technical tax research and compliance memos as well as develop tax models
- Support M&A activity, tax structuring, due diligence, tax modeling, among others
- Review and propose tax provisions for third party and intercompany agreements
- Preparation and/or review of disclosure statements and elections related to international acquisitions, restructurings, and tax planning
- Supports execution of transfer pricing documentation as well as maintenance and interpretation of OC’s Transfer Pricing policy
- Assists in the identification and management of key risks emanating from international tax operations, compliance, and reporting
- Supports accounting for international income taxes for financial reporting purposes on an as needed basis
- Special projects including tax process development, systems implementations, automation of tax processes, coordination with business units, various tax technical research projects and any other project as needed
- Leads and develops tax staff through coaching, mentoring, project involvement and education
- Collaborates internally with various stakeholders throughout OC

- Inspires teamwork across finance functions and regions to maximize the performance of Owens Corning and the development of people
- Is regarded by the employees of Owens Corning as a subject matter expert and a role model for growth, development and conduct
- Provides thought leadership, sets vision and communicates strategy for the development of people processes and systems.
- Acts as a resource to the non-financial/non-tax leaders of the business
- Mentors high potential finance talent within Owens Corning
JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required; advanced degree in tax and/or JD is highly desirable
- 10-12 years relevant experience in tax operations with demonstrated leadership growth required
- Experience in a multi-national corporate setting
- Broad foundation of tax experience with emphasis on international tax, including planning, compliance, transfer pricing, reporting
- Basic understanding of ASC740
- Technical knowledge of U.S. international tax, such as Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, and foreign tax credits
- Experience with software programs such as Excel, OneSource and/or CorpTax
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Global tax planning activities in support of business transactions (merger and acquisitions, integrations, dispositions, restructuring)
- Combined experience in public accounting and corporate experience
