Description

 

The Senior Accountant works directly with the Accounting Leader and business partners to support the effective execution of a broad range of accounting activities and goals. 

 

The role will help ensure results are appropriately stated, execute controls, analyze data, and assist and/or lead projects to continue integrating the Insulation business, this may include deployment related work, process improvements, and technical accounting.

 

The Senior Accountant must demonstrate clear and effective communication, teamwork, and ability to adapt. The Senior Accountant must also demonstrate high ethical standards and a drive for quality work product.

 

Reports to: Accounting Leader for Insulation

Span of control: Individual Contributor with analyst oversight

 

Responsibilities

Accounting

 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic accounting and ability to perform technical research
  • Leads the balance sheet review process developing an understanding of the relationship between various financial items and demonstrating a thorough understanding of events affecting the balance sheet
  • Review and understand financial statements
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and OC policy
  • Delivers insightful research analysis and commentary on key Americas accounting items
  • Resolve issues or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ensure all controls are appropriately executed and documented

 

Process

 Lead the monthly, quarterly and year end close cycle for the business

    • Provides timely and accurate financial statements for assigned business segments
    • Proactively assists with comprehensive review and analyses of data
    • Considered a valued partner
    • Consistently looks for opportunities to improve
  • Demonstrates clear thought process around decision-making criteria, always acting ethically and responsibly
    • Ensures integrity, quality, and confidentiality of financial and non-financial data
  • Reviews account reconciliations timely and in accordance with OC policy. Optimize distribution of these activities for maximum efficiency
  • Strive for process improvement (simplify, standardize, automate)
  • Lead and/or contribute to projects

  • Continuously builds an intimate knowledge of the businesses to provide insightful analysis of operating performance and financial statements

  • Develops strong working relationships with various stakeholders in Operations Accounting, Business Segments, Sourcing, FP&A, centers of excellence and Americas function leaders
  • Works closely with all constituents and peers in implementing best practices and delivering the best solution to the business
  • Partner with stakeholders to find the best solution
  • Demonstrate active listening, respect for different opinions, and an open mind to problem solving
  • Communicate timely and effectively across stakeholders

 

 

Job Requirements

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of related experience

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with a global company
  • Utilizing US GAAP and Accounting Policy
  • Developing and implementing process improvements
  • Strong business partner with ability to build relationships
  • SAP experience (or demonstrate ability to learn new systems)
