PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Insulation OPEX Senior Financial Analyst partners with business functional leadership across HR, Marketing, and Finance to provide a comprehensive view of the Insulation business segment’s OPEX results, forecasts, long range plans, and operations plans. The role will be primarily accountable for gathering, analyzing, preparing, and summarizing recommendations for strategic and operating plans as well as near-term financial forecasts and monthly results. It will also be responsible for assisting with the consolidation and reporting of the financial performance of the business. This individual works closely with the Insulation FP&A Leader, Insulation FP&A Finance Director and Vice President of Insulation Finance on business OPEX performance and decision support.

 

The role will be both a partner and a challenger in support of effective business performance. Curiosity, influence, leadership, communication, and a strong analytical mindset will all be critical traits for success in this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify actionable financial improvement initiatives through an “outside-in” approach.
  • Influence the performance of the business functions and tell the near and long-term story of business spending to internal stakeholders.
  • Drive the proliferation of usage and analysis using our current suite of systems (BI, SAP, SAC).

 

Business Planning and Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain financial models and consolidation tools to support operating plans, strategic plans, forecast and actual results.
  • Enable a business enterprise view of OPEX (SG&A/S&T) across the multiple P&Ls that make up Insulation
  • Identify and solve for inefficiencies and information gaps through process design and re-engineering as it relates to forecasting, planning and financial modeling.
  • Build an intimate knowledge of the Insulation business to provide insightful analysis in comparison with actual results, submitted budgets, and forecasts.
  • Partner with the Corporate and Insulation FP&A teams to ensure timely and accurate consolidation of operating and strategic plans including assumptions on OPEX inflation, allocations, initiative development, tracking and SIP & CIP plan development.
  • Ad hoc requests supporting all Insulation business segments.

 

Reporting and analysis

  • Design, deliver, and own an integrated and consolidated financial OPEX analysis model that provides a consolidated view of the Insulation businesses.
  • Monitor the business unit’s monthly closing process in conjunction with the Insulation Accounting team.
  • Lead the management reporting process and produce the monthly finance reports including in-depth analysis on variances reconciling actual results compared to plan, forecast and prior year.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly business unit communication through management decks and serve as the key point of contact to the Corporate FP&A team for OPEX spend.
  • Lead initiatives that leverage technology (i.e., BI) to develop consistent and efficient reporting and analytics across Insulation and generating an outcome of reporting and analytics that can be used by HR, Marketing, Finance, and management.
  • Provide objective insights, timely reporting, effective analysis, and overall finance support to ensure productive management reviews and proactive responses to market conditions.
  • Communicate results effectively to management and non-financial personnel.

 

Driving segment profitability

  • Uncover deterioration in OPEX plans or forecasts and assures accountable action plans are in place to assure maximum margin realization.
  • Assure that resourcing and investment decisions are supported by appropriate levels of due diligence and are in line with the strategic direction of the business.
  • Ensure accountable action plans are in place to mitigate risk globally.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
  • 5+ years progressive financial analysis experience in a manufacturing/corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.

 

PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:

  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree or professional certifications in finance or related field.
  • Experience supporting multi-national manufacturing corporations.
  • Demonstrates extensive experience utilizing advanced functionality of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates experience using SAP, SAC, BI, BPC.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment utilizing strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excels at leading and influencing others.
  • Can successfully form and then share candid and sometimes unpopular messages.
