SUMMARY

The Sr. Legal Support Lead, Litigation performs a variety of litigation management duties in the company’s Law Department under the direction of a company attorney The requirements of this role include an understanding of the U.S. and European judicial systems, general & product liability law, insurance, warranties and other contract obligations, federal & state rules of discovery, the company’s corporate structure and its products. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Offer recommendations, implement solutions, and make independent decisions on case management while exercising excellent judgement on when to involve in house and external counsel.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, case strategy to all levels of employees, including business, financial and senior executive leadership.
  • Effectively interact with and coordinate case activity with outside counsel retained to represent Owens Corning.
  • Coordinate the compilation of electronic and hard copy information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence, as necessary to respond to discovery.
  • Provide direction to other members of the  litigation support administrative staff.
  • Conduct factual investigation, including interviewing witnesses and or coordinate investigations and fact-finding on general liability, warranty, and product liability litigation matters.
  • Provide legal support to Customer Response Center, Warranty Teams, Preferred/ Platinum Contractors Team, and assist in resolving product warranty claims.
  • Provide legal support to all business units in the U.S. on a full range of matters and in Europe for significant liability and insurance matters.
  • Prepare settlement calculations based on factual and projected information produced in conjunction with pending litigation.
  • Prepare and negotiate settlement documents, including agreements and releases.
  • Prepare status reports and correspondence for updates to senior management, financial controls and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to general and product related subpoenas.
  • Assist in preparing company witnesses for deposition.
  • Serve as the company representative at mediation and other court proceedings as needed.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain litigation documents/files.
  • Manage electronic files in Legal Tracker and Box.
  • Review outside counsel invoices in Legal Tracker for compliance with OC billing guidelines.
  • Prepare financial forecasts for litigation expenses and support counsel in preparing for contingent liability reviews.
  • Provide support to other paralegals as necessary.
  • Handle emergency and crisis situations from customers and homeowners.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house required, preferably with litigation experience.
