Tax Leader - Planning and International Operations

Position Overview
The Tax Leader Planning and International Operations contributes to Owens Corning's success by managing the U.S. international income tax provision and compliance processes, supporting global tax audits, and providing quantitative tax modeling and analysis for tax planning, M&A, and business initiatives.
The role serves as a key liaison among tax, finance, accounting, treasury, legal, business leadership, and external advisors to support accurate tax reporting, timely compliance, effective audit defense, and informed business decision-making. Success requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, comfort working with complex data and calculations, and the ability to translate tax concepts into clear business insights.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Quantitative Tax Planning and Controversy
- Provide calculation, modeling, and data analysis support for tax planning initiatives, M&A transactions, treasury projects, legal entity restructurings, and business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain models that evaluate the cash tax, effective tax rate, and tax attribute impacts of proposed transactions and strategic alternatives.
- Support analysis of foreign tax credit utilization, repatriation planning, cash tax forecasting, and related scenarios.
- Assist with quantitative due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions and divestitures.
- Support U.S. federal and international tax audits and examinations.
- Prepare and review audit responses, supporting schedules, and documentation requests.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to support consistent and effective audit defense.
- Monitor tax controversy developments and identify potential areas of risk.
U.S. International Tax Provision
- Lead the quarterly and annual U.S. international tax provision process under ASC 740.
- Manage calculations and reporting for GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, foreign-source income, and other U.S. international provision items.
- Coordinate with finance, accounting, international teams, and external advisors to obtain complete and accurate data.
- Analyze the provision impact of legislative, regulatory, and business changes.
- Maintain and improve provision models, workpapers, documentation, and related internal controls.
U.S. International Tax Compliance
- Manage the U.S. international tax compliance process with support from an outside service provider.
- Oversee preparation and review of the international components of the U.S. federal income tax return, including applicable international information returns and disclosures.
- Develop and maintain methodologies and tracking tools for foreign tax credits, earnings and profits, tax basis, previously taxed earnings and profits, and other relevant tax attributes.
- Coordinate data collection and manage compliance timelines, deliverables, and review comments.
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance workpaper process through automation, standardization, documentation, and stronger data controls.
General Tax Support
- Provide support across the broader tax function based on business priorities, workload requirements, and team needs to include:
- Preparing and reviewing transfer pricing policies, methodologies and related calculations.
- Assisting with quarterly and annual tax provision activities, including preparation and review of domestic federal and state workpapers, tax pack review, and related USGAAP reporting support.
- Supporting domestic federal and state income tax compliance, including review of return workpapers and forms.
- Conducting tax research and prepare concise technical analyses on U.S. federal, state, and international tax matters.
- Assisting in coordinating and implementing process improvement initiatives, and other special projects as assigned.
- Responsibilities and allocation of time may evolve based on business needs, organizational priorities, and the individual's experience and development goals.

- Build relationships with tax, finance, treasury, legal, accounting, business teams, and external advisors.
- Understand Owens Corning’s global business operations, legal entity structure, growth initiatives, and related tax implications.
- Stay current on U.S. tax developments and relevant global tax trends.

- Partner with domestic and international finance teams to align on tax data requirements and deadlines.
- Lead or support special projects and other income tax activities as needed.

- Coach and mentor tax professionals to strengthen technical, analytical, and project management capabilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field.
- CPA, MST, JD/LL.M., or other advanced tax credential preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, a corporate tax department, or a combination of both.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership or significant project leadership experience.
- Experience with tax compliance and provision software, tax research tools, and enterprise financial systems.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally approximately 5% to 10%.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Advanced understanding of U.S. international tax concepts, including GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, Subpart F, and related provisions.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including complex tax calculations, financial modeling, and data-driven decision support.
- Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comforting working with large datasets and complex models.
- Ability to leverage data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve tax reporting, compliance, planning, and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, professional development, and adoption of new technologies.
- Familiarity with leading tax technology solutions, including OneSource, CorpTax, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Orbitax, SAP, BPC, and KPMG International Tax Reform Analyzer (ITRA) strongly preferred.
- Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to translate tax analysis into actionable business insights.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across functions, business units, and geographic regions.
- Knowledge of transfer pricing concepts is a plus, but deep technical expertise is not required.
- High level of integrity, accountability, professional judgment, and attention to detail.
