PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Vice President, Supply Chain is responsible for leading the end-to-end supply chain for a $2 billion global Doors business, ensuring safe, reliable, cost-effective flow of materials, information, and finished goods from suppliers through manufacturing and distribution to customers.
As a key member of the business leadership team, this executive sets supply chain strategy and drives competitive advantage for the Doors highly customized business through service excellence, productivity, working capital improvement, digital enablement, risk management, and profitable growth.
The role partners closely with Commercial, Operations, Finance, Product Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and IT leaders to deliver business results.
This role will report directly to the Doors Vice President Operations, will a dotted line to the Doors President and will have a team of 5-7 direct reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Supply Chain Leadership
- Develop and execute a best-in-class supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives, customer commitments, and growth plans for the make-to-order Doors business
- Lead all supply chain functions, including demand and supply planning, inventory and materials management, customer fulfillment, transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, S&OP, and supply chain analytics.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Business President and leadership team on supply chain performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Define and deliver a differentiated, frictionless customer experience through integrated supply chain execution to drive the value proposition execution of the business. Success metrics include share growth as well as premium value-based service.
Key job duties
Customer Service and Fulfillment
- Deliver world-class customer service through reliable order fulfillment, on-time delivery, and disciplined execution against customer commitments.
- Drive accountability for core service metrics, including OTIF/OTR, lead time performance, perfect order rate, and fill rate.
- Position the supply chain as a competitive differentiator for customers, channel partners, and strategic accounts.
- Lead the customer service team (both back office and front office) and deliver best in class response time, order acknowledgement, order follow up, quality and warranty follow up
Planning and Inventory
- Establish a best-in-class integrated business planning process.
- Lead demand and supply balancing processes to optimize service, cost, and inventory.
- Improve forecast accuracy and planning discipline.
- Improve working capital through inventory optimization, planning discipline, and effective supply chain execution.
Network and Logistics Optimization
- Optimize manufacturing and distribution networks to improve service and reduce cost while driving transportation, warehousing and distribution productivity.
- Lead network studies, footprint evaluations, long-range capacity planning, and continuity planning to strengthen resilience during disruptions.
Supply Chain Transformation and Digital Enablement
- Modernize supply chain capabilities, systems, analytics, visibility tools, and decision-support processes to enable data-driven decision making and to deliver the supply chain of the future
- Champion AI driven, technology-based enhancements, continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Supplier and Risk Management
- Partner closely with Strategic Sourcing leaders to ensure alignment between procurement strategy and business requirements.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for critical materials, suppliers, logistics networks, and customer fulfillment.
Financial Performance
- Deliver annual commitments for productivity, cost reduction, working capital improvement, service performance, cash generation, supply chain budget, and capital investment.
- Lead strategic tradeoff decisions balancing growth, service, inventory, and profitability.
Talent and Organizational Leadership
- Build and develop a high-performing supply chain organization.
- Create robust succession pipelines for key leadership positions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, engagement and inclusion.
- Coach and mentor future enterprise leaders for succession readiness.
Success Measures
- Service performance: OTIF/OTR, fil rate, lead time performance, perfect order rate, forecast accuracy, and plan attainment.
- Operational performance: network efficiency, supply continuity, logistics cost as percentage of sales, and supply chain productivity.
- Financial performance: working capital, inventory turns, cash generation, and EBITDA contribution.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience across multiple supply chain disciplines.
- Experience leading a complex, multi-site manufacturing and distribution network.
- Experience leading a make-to-order highly customized supply chain.
- Demonstrated ownership of a large-scale integrated supply chain.
- Proven track record leading organizational transformation and performance improvement.
- Strong financial and business acumen.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience in building products, industrial manufacturing, consumer durable goods, or related sectors.
- Experience leading supply chain organizations supporting $2B+ businesses.
- APICS/ASCM certification or equivalent professional credentials.
