The Vice President of Corporate Strategy has an opportunity to shape Owens Corning’s enterprise strategy narrative and growth trajectory in the residential and commercial building products  industry. This role leads strategy development for our $14B enterprise with significant growth aspirations, requiring extensive skills and experience in strategic planning process and execution.

Span of Control: 6 direct reports

Location: Toledo/Travel

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy Creation & Execution

  • Lead the strategic planning process, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals
  • Develop and implement comprehensive corporate strategies to accelerate strategies for growth
  • Influence the development and implementation of business unit strategies as a trusted advisor and accountability partner to senior leaders
  • Oversee financial strategies, including budgeting and forecasting, to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend adjustments to enhance business outcomes
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of strategic projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion

 

Market & Competitive Analysis and Insights

  • Conduct thorough market and economic research and competitive analyses to identify growth opportunities and competitive threats
  • Leverage consistent strategy frameworks and structured processes to gain productive insights and inform strategic decisions
  • Balance forming a well-informed point of view with remaining open to alternative possibilities
  • Evaluate and refine existing strategies based on market dynamics and business performance

 

Enterprise & Executive Leadership

  • Foster a culture of innovation, strategic evaluation and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Work closely with executive committee to ensure strategies are integrated across the enterprise
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment across departments to streamline processes, improve decision-making, and accelerate execution of strategic initiatives
  • Support communication of strategic plans and progress to stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Lead, develop and empower a team of high-performing individuals to successfully deliver high-impact enterprise initiatives

 

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Extensive experience in leading strategic planning and execution, including first-hand strategy development and execution within a similarly sized enterprise as well as professional management consulting on strategy across an industrial portfolio
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing multiple and successful organic and inorganic growth strategies using consistent and regimented processes to provide data first view of market and growth opportunities  
  • Deep understanding of industrial markets with a preference for building and construction; historical and future-facing trends and competitive landscape
  • Track record of success working with and forging strong relationships with executive audiences (CEO, CFO, Business Presidents) to collaborate, influence, and be held accountable. Ability to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and bring members of executive team together on agreements and decisions
  • Leadership of teams directly and indirectly within a matrixed environment to implement strategic initiatives
  • Abilities that span critical thinking and decision-making, analytical capability and financial acumen, and interpersonal collaboration and inspirational leadership
  • Demonstrate both a “doer” and “ownership” mentality, with a passion for delivering on commitments, owning results, and “rolling up” sleeves to drive performance. Ability and comfort working at different levels of abstraction and depth, whether at the 50,000 foot level or 50 foot detailed view
