Applies basecoat/glaze to slab and component surfaces. Reviews surface for any defects and qualifies repairs completed by the prep team. May be required to prepare surfaces for painting/staining by wiping all surfaces with acetone to removing oil, grease, excess paint and other contaminants.  May be required to fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty or other fillers using a putty knife. Primes surfaces as necessary. Will review production ticket to identify appropriate color to be applied to the slab and components. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•    Basic Spray Equipment Operation and ability to Troubleshoot
•    Ability to effectively apply paint/stain coating to a high degree of accuracy and quality
•    Ability to decipher and understand production ticket B.O.M’s. (Bill of Materials)
•    Read and interpret product and customer quality specs and identify defects. 
•    Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with paint/stain.
•    High attention to detail detecting defects.
•    Ability to effectively work with minimal supervision
•    High degree of personal quality standards, creativity and willingness to improve.  

Responsibility:
•    Effectively apply paint/glaze/stains to doors & components, with spray equipment. 
•    Moderate level of responsibility to identify defects, make repairs using tools provided, and make decisions for what can/cannot be repaired. 
•    Responsibility to minimize COQ impact while meeting customer quality expectations.
•    Maintain Area and Equipment Cleanliness 
•    Maintain efficient operation and output to meet customer demand.
•    Other duties as assigned by supervisor/management

Qualifications:
•    Minimum High School Diploma
•    Excellent Team Dynamics
•    Manufacturing Experience Preferred.
•    2+ years of experience in the field of Paint/Stain application or in a related area 

Physical / Mental Demands:
•    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, twisting, stooping, excellent dexterity.
•    Must work at physically demanding fast pace. 
•    Strong eye/hand coordination. Standing for long continuous hours. Lifting buckets of paint. 
•    Constant attention to detail and accuracy of material placement.
•    Concentration on proper lifting and ensure floors are kept free of debris. 

Working Conditions:
Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. Must maintain good balance and grip on equipment while spraying. 

Pay: 
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $18.00 + benefits. Base pay will vary within the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to Vandalia and may not be applicable to other locations.
