Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Non-Rotating)

 

Purpose of the Role

The Fiber Prep Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as the refiner, dryer system, screening systems, dust system, and more. This role involves adjusting temperature, speed, volume, and pressure to meet fiber quality standards. The Fiber Prep Operator plays a crucial part in the production process, ensuring that fiber characteristics and board properties are monitored and maintained, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the fiber preparation area.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Collaborates With: Bale Loader Operator, Bale Breaker Operator, Press Operator

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain equipment such as the refiner, dryer system, screening systems, dust system, pellet mill, and more.
  • Adjust temperature, speed, volume, and pressure to meet fiber quality standards.
  • Monitor fiber characteristics and board properties.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Operate and maintain the boiler heater.
  • Receive and monitor resin and release agent levels.
  • Record production and machine data accurately.
  • Communicate effectively during shift changes.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Completion of Bale Breaker and Pellet Mill training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Capability to stand for entire shifts (8 or 12 hours).
  • Comfort working at heights up to 50 ft with appropriate safety PPE.
  • Adaptability to work in uncontrolled temperature environments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong safety awareness for self and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in operating PLC screens.
  • Solid mechanical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
