Purpose of the Role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of manufacturing equipment and conveying systems. This includes performing preventative maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and installations to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. The role supports both equipment functionality and facility upkeep, contributing to a safe and productive work environment.
Reporting Structure
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Collaborates With: Production Operators, Maintenance Team, Shift Supervisors
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures including Hot Works, Confined Space, and Lock Out Tag Out.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on manufacturing and conveying equipment.
- Repair, replace, adjust, and align equipment components using hand and power tools.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install equipment or miscellaneous parts using tools or welding equipment.
- Conduct general building, construction, and plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- Complete electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs per work orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; return tools and replace safety guards after work is completed.
- Assist in training production and maintenance personnel on machine operations and adjustments.
- Document process changes in logbooks and complete spare parts inventory checkout procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding significant issues or opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Proven knowledge of machine design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Basic welding and electrical skills.
- Ability to use a variety of tools including precision instruments and electrical testing devices.
- Previous experience in industrial or manufacturing settings preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Capable of working a 12-hour shift.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision required.
- Must supply own tools and toolbox.
Work Environment
Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, equipment, and maintenance tasks. Requires physical activity throughout the shift.
