Schedule: Monday - Sunday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

 

Purpose of the Role

The Scale House Operator is responsible for managing the scale operations and ensuring accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing straw. This role helps to facilitate yard cleanliness, driver communication, and compliance with safety and operational procedures. The operator plays a key role in maintaining the flow of materials and ensuring accurate data collection.

 

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Operations Manager

Collaborates With: Truck Drivers, Yard Personnel, Operations Team

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Sweep and/or shovel straw, dust, mud, and other debris from the scale and surrounding yard area.
  • Communicate with truck drivers to:
      - Remind them to sweep off trailers before leaving the yard.
      - Ensure they read and sign Masonite Yard Safety forms.
  • Accurately complete scale tickets, including:
      - Moisture content of each load.
      - Field and bale information.
      - Incoming and outgoing weights.
  • Print and verify scale tickets for accuracy.
  • Follow all company policies, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in agricultural or industrial settings is beneficial.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
  • Strong safety awareness and compliance.

 

Work Environment

Outdoor yard and scale area with exposure to dust, straw, and weather elements. Requires standing, lifting, and interacting with truck drivers and equipment throughout the shift.
