SUMMARY

The Electrical Specialist is an hourly position that performs the role of electrical trouble shooting specialist in reacting to equipment failures as well as recognizing problems/failures before they occur and actively works with equipment operators to minimize the impact of failures. This involves keeping up to date on how equipment is to perform and utilizing up to date reliability methods to ensure continued performance.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads, assists, and performs the duties of the Electrical Specialist.  Also leads Apprentices.
  • Is process expert for all electrical maintenance processes.  This includes but is not limited to all packaging, facing, fabrication, forming, utilities, building & grounds systems, and raw material handling & processing systems
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts related to electrical maintenance process and equipment issues (including computers).  Safely uses various tools and test equipment necessary to perform troubleshooting and repairs.  This includes but is not limited to; computers, volt-ohm meters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, solid-state test equipment, etc.
  • Makes a point of visiting with employees in his/her area, at least once per shift to discuss issues, problems, etc.
  • Audits work in progress and completed assignments for procedural and quality compliance, as required
  • Follows-up with employees to ensure procedures are followed properly
  • Addresses issues/problems as they arise
  • Operates tools of the trade and related equipment in performing the work of the craft
  • Operates forklift, crane, man-lift, and misc. plant vehicles.  Performs operator inspections, checks fluid levels and various component systems for malfunctions, and replenishes fuel supply
  • Performs the role of electrical trouble shooter in reacting to equipment failures as well as recognizing problems/failures before they occur and actively works with equipment operators to minimize the impact of failures. This involves keeping up to date on training, how equipment is to perform, and utilizing up to date reliability methods to ensure continued performance
  • Performs the role of electrical analyst in reviewing equipment failure history and predictive maintenance information to optimize equipment performance
  • Participates in waste elimination, reliability, and total predictive maintenance processes

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

The employee must be able to:

  • Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
  • Be proficient in SAP system

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment

  • Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying rotating shifts
  • Medical certification to wear respirator protection
