Overview

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for organizing and directing all inbound warehousing functions while ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality, according to Masonite policies. Ensuring accurate inventory of materials and products across present warehouses. This role is responsible for conducting periodic inventory analysis to improve inventory efficiencies; and implementing inventory control procedures. Maintaining a line of communication with all on matters concerning Inventory or other shipping and receiving functions.

 

They ensure all orders are shipped in a timely fashion and follows up on any late or missing shipments following the Masonite Shipping policy. They coordinate plant movements through the dedicated fleet and TMS management system to ensure loads are completed and closed throughout the day. This role proactively drives the production plan to meet the fill rate targets and customer lead times.  Responsible for letting the plant team know what is needed for daily shipments.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of special projects for Warehouse Management which may include standardized training for warehouse employees and the introductions of Warehouse Management Systems (barcoding & scanning of all products & storage locations in the warehouse). 
  • Create and lead implementation of routine Warehouse Management tools and practices including PFEP, and ABC Cycle Counting
  • Identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Contributes and ensures Masonite meets customer requirements
  • Contribute to on time and successful new product launches by ensuring warehouse capacity related questions are resolved in time to meet new product launch.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures as they relate to material flow.
  • Monitors quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the incoming movement and storage of goods
  • Creates & implements procedures for incoming shipments accurately & efficiently
  • Ensures that needed repairs to all equipment within the departments are completed in a timely, economic manner
  • Ensure Accounts Payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Maintains and strives to improve safety in accordance with both company and governmental standards
  • Continually monitors overtime hours to ensure that proper workforce needed to process the receipt of material is maintained
  • Trains and develops personnel to achieve departmental objectives and to increase a given employee’s capacity to assume additional responsibilities in the future
  • Assists Supply Chain Manager in researching and developing new techniques and procedures to increase the overall efficiency of the receiving operations

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of purchasing, customer service, national accounts, data processing, transportation & warehousing
  • Proven ability to achieve results through persistent negotiations, appropriate allocation of resources, strong communication skills & sound decision-making
  • Interpersonal skills to lead, manage, motivate, & develop positive employee relations

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (AA) preferred or High School diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience and understanding of shipping and receiving within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Previous Supervisor or Team Leader experience in a similar work environment
  • Progressive responsibility in current or previous roles
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures as they relate to material flow.
